The consistently intriguing Crash Symbols imprint today released a stunning new LP from Edmonton-based producer Ghibli entitled Rare Pleasures. The ten-track effort is a filtered jaunt through the man’s version of house, grabbing disco and soul samples from You Tube exclusively only to shove them below heavy-handed compression and layers of spinning haze. The resulting album is a swim of a listen through chopped hooks and steady beats, rendering it likely to inspire more than its share of bedroom dance parties. And, best yet, Crash Symbols—in its infinite wisdom—has made the digital version of Rare Pleasures available for free. You can stream/download the whole affair below and head here to pre-order the sleek cassette tape version for a mere fiver.
